The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) organized the Trade & Investment Forum with United States of America on October 2nd, 2025, presided under DPM Sun Chanthol, to address the importance of doing trade with the US and the opportunity to invest more in Cambodia both local and international investor for the export to the US’s soil.

Under the wish leadership of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia has achieved remarkably with 19% reciprocal tariff for the exporting its products to the US, down from 49% which was announce in early April 2025. This 19% rate provides Cambodia a massive chance to compete with our neighboring countries such as Thailand (19%) and Vietnam (20%) and our close rival country in garment sector, Bangladesh (20%).

Furthermore, DPM Sun Chanthol pinpoints the improvement of the business and investment environment over the last decade with the generous package designed for Qualified Investment Project (QIP) to attract more FDI to Cambodia. But, DPM also instructed to relevant governmental bodies to pay more attention and prohibit the transshipment, ensuring Cambodia can retain the 19% rate and can be decreased further in the future when going to negotiation with USTR.
